Overview

Know exactly where you stand

You can't improve what you can't see. Many businesses run on assumptions about their IT until something breaks or is breached.

WhizzIT audits your technology, security and processes and gives you an honest, prioritised report, so you know your risks and exactly what to do about them.

What an audit covers

Findings are only useful if they are ranked

An audit that lists two hundred observations with no order of priority creates work rather than clarity. The useful output separates what exposes you now from what is untidy but harmless, and says what each fix costs in time and money so the decision can actually be made.

Almost every audit turns up the same category of surprise: devices nobody can account for, accounts belonging to people who left, software still installed after the project that needed it finished, and a licence count that no longer matches headcount. None of this is negligence. It is what happens when a business grows faster than its record-keeping. Establishing an accurate baseline is most of the value, because every later decision depends on knowing what you actually have.

A vulnerability on an internal print server behind a firewall is not the same as an exposed remote access service with a shared password, even if a scanner scores them similarly. Context decides severity: what the system touches, who can reach it, and what happens if it stops. We rank findings by that rather than by raw score, so effort goes where it changes the outcome.

How a new starter gets their accounts, how a leaver loses them, who approves a change, and whether anyone checks the backup restored are all process questions that no scan detects. They are also where most real incidents begin. An audit that only looks at boxes and software misses the half of the picture that people actually operate.

Findings are written to be read by a director as well as an engineer, with the reasoning visible rather than a bare list of severities. That matters when the audit exists because a customer, an insurer or a board asked for assurance, because the person asking is rarely the person who will implement the fixes.

After the audit

A report is a starting point, not a deliverable

The gap between an audit and an improvement is whoever owns the follow-up. We set out the findings in priority order with an indication of effort, then agree which items we take on, which your team handles and which are accepted as a conscious risk. Writing down an accepted risk is a legitimate outcome; leaving it undocumented is not.

Where an audit is being run because a customer or insurer asked for evidence, the practical next step is usually Cyber Essentials certification support, which turns the same controls into something externally recognised. Where it is being run before a change of systems, IT strategy is the natural follow-on.

Very responsive, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. They provide IT services for my hotel, restaurant and sports bar and grill.
